the superbowl, yo!

hello everyone! how was your weekend? more importantly (sorry Mr. Saturday) how was your SUPERBOWL SUNDAY??

mine was actually quite fantabulous, thanks.

i just love watching the Superbowl every year because (sadly) it's one of a couple of times in the season that i have a chance to sit down and watch an NFL football game. it's so great. i also love being with my family and screaming and cheering with them. the best is when half of the family is going for one team and the other half if rooting for the other. lastly, i love food and that's all there is to it. food, food, food. get in my belly.

this year we were invited over to our neighbor's for the big game with a couple of other families. 'twas much fun indeed. now, i have to say, it was a pretty slow game in the first half, i mean it was a pretty low scoring game, and not too many crazy plays happened. but, when Mario Manningham caught that incredible pass, barely in bounds, now that was a time to celebrate and jump out of my seat. great play, Eli and Mario. great play.

also, can we talk about when the Giants made their last TD and the guy completely wizzed right through EVERYONE and stopped before he stepping in the endzone? whoa, there. i almost had a heart attack because that scared me half to death! not only did is scare me, but i was surprised! i was like, "what the heck are you DOING?? what's going on????" ya, and imagine me standing on the couch, my face scrunched up in disbelief and screaming that at the tv. i bet it was a sight, people. anyways, he just scared about (more than) half of America right there with that little move. thanks, pal. that was insane....ly awesome.

now, i say more than half of america because i'm pretty sure that (this is my theory) 65% of America was going for the Giants. yes, i believe that is accurate 1) because not very many people like Tom Brady. i mean what is there even to like? he's a weirdo. and i say that in a nice way... no wait, no i don't. and 2) a Manning needs to win where a Manning legend is from. Peyton? he's my main football man and he is so great. so naturally, Eli just had to win.

yes, i was excited about the NY Giant's win. after all, they are my 2nd favorite team--and not because they were "good" this year. oh puke. i HATE bandwagonners. they.are.the.worst. when it comes to good ole American football, you have to love a team from the beginning and not because they are good. NY is followed by (obviously) the Colts. i've always loved them. because of Peyton mostly, i don't know. i guess i just love me some Manning brothers. our family loves both those teams, too. but like i said before, what's not to like?

well, how about them commercials? (i'm not even going to talk about Midonna. oh my wow. she should never do that again.) i didn't think they were side-splitting hilarious, but there were a couple of funny ones. (in order from most favorite) here are my favorite ads:

ya, and that's about all of them that i kind of laughed at. they weren't as funny as they were last year! i was sad. but come on, that Ferris Bueller ad killed me. i love that movie! and the commercial was brilliant. the other two were pretty good, too.

oh my. i love this crazy, blurry and wack-o picture of Lacie and i. it's great. and it brings pretty good memories to my brain. i quite like that.
i love hanging out with my cousin and making some lovely memories. i love telling her everything when i don't know who to turn to, to spill out words that i've kept inside and need to tell someone. i love being crazy, silly and just having fun with her.

and that's what i'm going to talk about today. love.

well, Valentine's Day is coming up, and i haven't thought too much about it, but before i do, i kind of wanted to get my thoughts straight and in order. you see, whenever i think about something, it's level of importance and how big of a deal it is, automatically goes up 1739.23 points. so basically, its so not as a big deal as it seems. i don't know why this is, but it just is. i usually end up making myself sad, overly excited, or really worried for pretty much nothing. whenever this happens (which is a lot) i have to step back and verbally talk about what ever i was thinking about with a friend or someone i trust. then i realize that there's nothing to worry about and i just go on living my life. its pretty simple once i straighten things out.

Valentine's Day is easily something that can result in worry. for me, at least. now, i'm not saying that i'm worried about not getting something for a secret admirer, or told that i'm loved or anything like that, but maybe i am... (okay, not that last one... i mean everyone kind of worries about the first one..) maybe i'm worried because in my group of friends, (there's 7 of us..that should tell you something right there.) there's us 4 girls and the 3 guys. now, don't get me wrong because i love each of them so much. the guys are sooo funny and make me laugh way hard, and the girls are so sweet and cute and fun to be with. BUT all i'm going to say is that they pair up. and even though we're all friends, i sometimes find myself awkwardly standing alone, like at movie night and stuff. *sad face.* gahh, i don't know what to think about Valentine's Day! boo. oh well. i'll just.. forget about it until it comes. that's always smart, right? wrong. maybe?

also while on the topic of love, i just want to say how much i love my crazy family. we are so weird. have you seen that episode of Modern Family when Gloria is yelling at her family but that's how she knows they love each other?

well, the same can be said about our family. we yell at each other and just really let each other know how we feel. but at the end of the day, we love one another so much. :)

the weirdest thing just happened.

there i was, minding my own business, searching for pretty things on Pinterest when i hear my mom yell something to me from upstairs. now, when she yells things, i never know what to expect. she could be yelling at me and getting angry, she could be asking me a question (like in this case) or she could be telling me that she's going somewhere and that i need to come now, or i need to babysit (in that case, i just flat out pretend i didn't hear.) and that is all because she, no we, are too lazy to actually come upstairs, go downstairs or meet each other half way when we communicate in this household. i like to call it, Amicklazyitidus. it has to be a genetic thing. i mean, my grandma even has an intercom system hooked up in her house. (communicating in different rooms at grandma's=some great quality cousin bonding.)

anyways. i was just minding my own personal business when she yelled some crazy jibberish at me and i had no.clue.whatsoever. of what she said. usually, i can make out the muffled greek, but not this time. all i heard was the word, "salad" and some muffled yells. so, being my fatty self, sitting on my butt and not going to see what she wanted, i said, "wha??" and huhhh??" a couple of times in a girl-you-crazy-i-know-not-what-you-say sort of tone and dropped it after she repeated herself a couple of times.

i carried on in my own little colorful and creative virtual world (some call it Pinterest) and just did what i do best!

i guess i got bored or hungry or something because the next thing i remember is making my way upstairs (after school is my lazy time, people, it's all a big fat lazy blurrr.) and would you like to know what my eyeballs beheld? they beheld a jealous sight of all most jealous sights. my dad and brother eating something that i made out to look like either, Cafe Rio, Durrangos, or Bajio. basically the best restaurant food of the world we live in today. let me just put it this way: i live for American style Mexican food. it's just so glorious and kind to my tongue and taste buds. so yes, i was jealous and wondering where mine was. (when kenzie hungry, kenzie cranky. especially when people are eating the best food ever in front of her face.)

well hey! then it clicked! my brother was eating my mom's food and i had dibs! (even though i didn't know what she said about the salad, i'm pretty sure she said i could have the rest of hers. and Blake didn't need to know that i didn't really know that.) so what did i do? i kicked my brother off of the chair and claimed what was rightfully mine. yes, that's right! i got my food and enjoyed it so much, in fact, i'm pretty sure that disgusting beltch i just let out of my mouth was my stomach's way of thanking me. well, your welcome, stomach. we should do that again sometime because i had a wonderful evening.

now remember, folks, the next time your mom yells something in a crazy language to you and all you hear is salad, please do yourself a favor by running upstairs like Flash from DC Comics and claim your price, because not only will your stomach and taste buds think you're a winner, you will too.

January has passed...let's reflect.

about a month ago at the beginning of janurary, i posted my list of resolutions for the new year. i thought it would be a good idea to stop every month and reflect on how well i'm doing on my goals.

it erks me how i and other people don't keep up with resolutions. for example, gyms are full at the beginning of the year, dieting companies get the most business in january and february, and everyone does pretty good for the first quarter of the year, maybe only the first quarter of january, and then they quit. and don't get me wrong... i TOTALLY do that too. but, i guess i should add to this list and say that a new year's resolution of mine is to keep up with my new year's resolutions.

here, is brightly typed list of my resolutions....

i even broke them down so i wasn't so frazzled with all twenty and stressing out to accomplish all of them at once.

...and, here is how well i feel i've been doing. it hasn't been my number one priority to get these goals accomplished and habits made, but i've given the majority of them a go...

to be honest, i haven't done this at all. sorry. but this is about the only one i haven't done, so that's good! i need to get focused on sundays and just write! :)
pretty good... well, not so much. i just need to remind myself to!
honestly... i it hasn't happened yet. i'll be giving it a go soon since my life isn't as stressful anymore!
i'm actually please to say that i've been pretty good so far with this one.
i'm doing well in school, it's just a matter of keeping that up!
today was my last day of Driver's Ed, i HOPE i passed my test, so i guess i've get this one in the bag.
still working on that one.. although there is a possibility that i will go to Hawaii and work for my Uncle this summer. (too good to be true? i just might be.)

it's been so fun hanging out with this girlie here in Vegas! we went shopping yesterday, and stopped to take a couple pictures of our outfits. we realized that we were both wearing scarves after we got home when we were editing these pics, and that's when the title was born. also, we LOVE how Elsie and Emma do Sister Style, so we just had to do one of our own as well. :)

today, (in a couple minutes actually) our family is heading down to Vegas to celebrate at my grandpa's 70th surprise birthday party. it's not the most exciting reason to visit... but i can't wait to see everyone. :) i also can't wait to see my ~~sister~~ cousin and hang out with her! Lacie and i have the best times together. ;) we're so into the same things and we crazily have the same life it sometimes seems like.

anyways, i'll be taking some instant pictures, digital pictures, and makin' some memories this weekend, and i'm excited to share about my trip when i get back!

look at me. so proud of what i'm doing, of the person i've become. and no. i'm not going into the National Guard. that's just on the amazing water bottle that helps and motivates me and whispers, "that's right Kenzie! you can do this!" we've developed a great relationship over the past week.

still haven't guess what i'm talking about?
well, i'll tell you!

i made it a new year's resolution to get healthier and all that. (just like most people do...) i decided to start with something easy--no body building, intense workouts, extreme no sugar diets, but something actually obtainable.

i simply decided to start drinking more water.

and i've noticed such a difference! my skin is so clear, and has been clear for a while now, i feel better (and not dehydrated!), headaches gone, and uh not to be awkward, but it's totes helped with the 'monthly gift'... if you know what i mean. water is so healthy, and only drinking the required 8 cups a day (two fill ups of that ginormous water bottle i'm holding) has make me feel so much better and has improved my health.

basically, i'm feelin' all around awesome.
basically, i'm feelin' like a boss.

inspire me in many ways

i've been thinking something needs to change about my Inspire Me Thursday posts. i think that they need to be more structured. sure, it's fun posting my favorite images from tumblr that week, but it just kind of gets old, you know? i bet you do.

so, with that being said, i'm going to try something out this week. something more complex and different. let me know what you think. ;)

also, for the record, i'm pretty sure these won't be every week just so they're not 'forced' and i have to come up with something every week. that kind of defeats the purpose.

it's one thing to be inspired, but it takes more to have motivation, then creating. it takes that big fat 'E' word all of our lazy butts hate; Effort. so, here's my effort of taking this inspiration, turning it into motivation, then making a creation of my own.

this week, i think i've been mainly inspired by fashion. i've been trying new styles, stepping out of my fashion comfort zone and wearing quirky things to school, and pinning like a fool to my Fashion board on Pinterest.

just now as i collected these pictures, i've realized i've been wayy into three things when it comes to fashion:
*bold stripes/patterns
*color blocking
*coral, navy, red and yellow

but it's so true. i've been way into those colors and styles lately. i love the colorfulness of all of it and how fun it is to wear that kind of stuff! they have definitely already made their way into my outfits. i won't forget to share them sometime. :)

this week on tumblr, i've been way inspired and in love with these kind of quirky, vintage typography and art photos. the colors are stunning and they are all just visually awesome.

i've really loving the photograph-and-whimsical-type combo. it's quite the catch.
i'd really like to try this, to take a picture i've taken and create a work of art like these.
that would be a fun day.

one more thing worthy of noting: the colors. I LOVE COLOR. and especially the colors in each of these pictures. i'm totally influenced by it in my outfits and design of my room. <3

you know how i talk about my room like all the time? and how i moved downstairs into a new bedroom and decided to start over and redesign it? remember how that way like a year ago? ya, i don't either. it's been so long.

anyways, happy news, happy news is upon us all. well, err, me i guess. i'm sorta kind of done with it! SORTA.

i recently rearrange my bedroom to a more functional arrangement. let me tell ya, i thought it would be so lame, would give me like no floor space and just be too formal. i want my room to be quirky and me. i want to design a bedroom that no one else has.. something that's exceptional to me-a place where i can go and relax, love and completely be and feel like myself in. (well that was deep.) but true. so, i had measured, drawn out and scaled everything so many times before i started moving furniture. then one night my mom was like, "let's just do it." and i agreed. so then we moved everything around and i love it SO MUCH MORE than how it was before. SO MUCH MORE. i was actually mad i didn't do it sooner.

i've also recently bought and collected cute little things here and there for my room too. cute little trinkets. like that coral clock? LOVE. and that record on the wall? and that owl drawing my friend basically found in the trash and gave to me? ya. awesome. and then i have my collected cameras and books here and there.

and shall we talk about that white pillow in the middle of the bed? i think we shall. that's just the innerds of the pillow, but don't worry, i have plans for that little baby. i just need to get fabric, ribbon and sew it. seems like a simple saturday project. i just don't know when i'll get around to it. i'm trying to go for something like this:

according to my internet history, i think i have a new girl crush.

here's the story of how this crushy-crush began.

anyways, when watching this season of American Idol, Brooke was actually one of my favorites on that show. and when it got down to i believe the top 5, i wanted her to win so bad. but alas, she did not, and Idol ended. i think that was the year with David Cook and David Archie. yes, i believe it was.

so a few years passed, she was sadly forgotten (as all Idol stars are for a while...) until a couple months ago.

you see, Brooke White and this other chick do this show called The Girls With Glasses. and i am so in love with it. they are so adorable, funny, their show is about things that i love (thrifting, Ban.do, fashion, etc.) and they are just awesome.

wait, what's that? i think i hear your brain saying, "but Kenzie, i've never seen this show before!" (unless, you uh, have) would you look at that? our good pal, Youtube is here to save us yet again.

sooo, turns out i've seen a vid or two of this show on other blogs that i read, and i'm sorry to admit that i totally didn't realize that was Brooke! actually, i may or may not have thought they were just two really funny and creative moms with nice camera equipment (not that there's anything wrong with that...). turns out one is a Singer/Songwriter and one's a Model. (oops.)
but yes. i totally watched them. i totally didn't recognize.

our next little encounter happened right in my own little town.
it was the 150th birthday of the city i live in, so they had a little get-together in the center of town. there was a video about how it was settled and grew, cake and fireworks at the end, but there was also a special musical guest right smack-dab in the middle of all that. yes. Brooke White was the special performer of the night. and she was SO amazing.
her songs were glorious, she sang some Beatles songs and some of her own. she was super funny (can you tell that i love her personality?) and i fell in love with her songs. she also performed with another guy that i guess she has written songs with named Jack. get this. they combined forces and call their selves Jack and White. how brilliant? go listen to some of their songs! fast! (i'll let you thank me later.)

yes. so they were great. and i'm glad i've discovered Brooke again. i was so lucky to meet her after the show, get a pic and have her sign my iPod case, too. she was so sweet.

one more thing: i didn't even realize that she was from The Girls With Glasses Show until i got home, stalked her on Twitter, went to her website and saw a link. then it all clicked, and i was officially hooked.

well, there you have it. my new girl crush.
she is already one of my style icons (she's always wearing the cutest things! and that stripped BLAZER? i die.), her music has me hooked, and the fact that she is so wholesome and firm in her faith pretty much seals the deal. awesome.

hey guys! how is it going?

i thought it would be kind of fun to do a new feature here on this blog of mine. maybe it'll be weekly, maybe it'll be monthly or maybe it'll be whenever i feel like it. who knows. i wanted to share my instant photos that i take with my new camera i got for Christmas. i also need to do something (like share them with you) so i can remember to take pictures with my instant cam cam. i got this fabulous idea from busy bee lauren-i just love the polaroids she takes-and isn't it a great one? i am so excited to start this. :)

what i'll do is post one or a few instants that i took that past week as well as a little playlist of some songs i've been into lately. this also gives me a change to give an effort to find new music and stuff. i also wanted to take a day where i share music (like a monday) and i wanted to do this instant thing on a wednesday, so why not mash it all up and do it on a tuesday? lo and behold, the title: instant tunesday. i'm so clever. it kills me.

anywho, i guess i'll tell a little about the picture, too.
i took this picture of the lovely berries that grow on the side of our house in the winter time. this is about the only beauty that blossoms this time of year around my house. isn't the contrast between the vibrant blue sky, red berries and green leaves something else? love it.

well, this is what i wore today. i had a while to get ready this morning since we don't have any school today, so i got a little more dressed up. 'twas fun.

today i went thrifting with the mama and got lunch and stuff. we even stopped for a blizzard at DQ. were fatties like that.

today was so fun! and i don't want to go back to school tomorrow. :,( don't make me gooo!

i've been meaning to do this for a while, but when i was going to, i totally lost my iPod for about a week so i decided to wait. (for obvious reasons.) i finally found it (yay! ..i need to stop losing it.) so here i am, telling you all about my iPod. aka-my ~~baby~~ err, ~~best friend,~~ handy, uh, tool that's always there for me.

i've posted about my ipod before, so you can go read about how i got it for free if you want, but i'm not going to tell that story again. anywho, this is my iPod. and i love it. its about a year old and i really want a white one now, but i'm glad i have it. maybe i'll get a white iPhone or something...
i have it with me where ever i go, and i guess that's how i lose it all the time! (my new bulky case has prevented that so far..)

i freaking LOVE iPod/iPhone cases, so when i found this site and saw that you can buy their art in case form, i totally bought one. and i love the skin on the back of my iPod. it was way scratched because i never used a skin or anything before, so my problem is totally solved. :)
and that second case it a case my dad just gave to me that he got at CES this past week. it's not my favorite, but it works! i like that it's soft and squishy. haha

you've probably seen these before on my blog, but here i am telling you about them now. i got these for Christmas and i totally picked them out on amazon.com, but i love them. they are so cute and retro and the sound quality is amazing. it totally blocks out all other noises (which my mom doesn't really like..). they are wayy comfy, too. i hate ear-buds so these just totally make my day.

and finally, what is on my iPod. these are screen shots of all my pages on my iPod right now. who knows, it might change soon, but this is currently what apps i (mostly) use.
i don't really play very many games (only Temple Run, Fruit Ninja and Words Free) so i don't now why i have so many games.
some of my favorite handy apps include Google, IMDb, Amazon, PayPal, and Lose It. i LOVE Lose It. i'm not trying to lose weight, but its so nifty to keep track of my calories i eat in a day and be more healthy. it's so helpful if you need to kick a new years resolution in the butt!
and my favorite time-wastes are Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Pinterest. i am so obsessed with Instagram. i love it. (follow me? :) @kenzieamick)

now all of you with your hands awkwardly perched in the air, take your other hand and give yourself a high five. i don't now why, just do it.

no, the Golden Globes were actually pretty good. i love seeing who wins what and rooting for my favorite movies (or the only ones that i know of in that category..) and what movies were awesome enough to win and all the jazz. but my favorite part of them is seeing all of the actors and especially actresses dressed up.

i love this color. at first glance, i didn't really love this dress, but it's so growing on me. it reminds me of the dress Angelina Jolie wore last year (which i am in love with) so maybe that's why i love it so much.

i actually really like the shape of this quirky dress! and i love Natalie. she is amazing. the colors im not in love with. pink+red=not cute. in my opinion. but she still looks great.

i love Octavia Spencer! and she looks so STUNNING in this dress! the color is amazing, and the shape is so flattering. 10 points to Gryffindor!

i don't really know who this is, but when i saw her, i fell in love with her dress. and isn't it so gorgeous with those earrings? love the pop of color.

AHH! Julie Bowen! she is so great in Modern Family. and this dress is to die for. i love the color so much, and the shape and style of this dress is so my favorite. she looks so pretty, too!

The Help

(this post may have a couple spoilers...)

oh guys, oh man, i love the story of The Help.
and i think everyone who reads the book or watches the movie does too...

i wanted to take some time and talk about it here on my blog. i know it's been awhile since it was all the rave and all that, and i even finished the book and watched the movie (i waited until i finished the book--i actually watched it about ten minutes after i did..) but it still wanted to discuss it.

i really, really loved the book. it was one of those books that got me into reading after a little while of disinterest in books or telling myself that i simply "don't have time to read", which is so not true. there's always time for reading. it was a really well written book and i loved how the narrators switched every couple of chapters telling their story, and then how all of their stories intertwined.
and i know this is how it is with all books vs. movies, but i really loved all of the detail, back stories and better descriptions in the book. it made me feel like i really knew more about what was going on in the movie more than the average person. it also helped my mind explore more and understand the characters motives and stuff. (look at me. my English teacher would be so proud.)

the movie was REALLY good, too. of course, i loved how the characters were brought to life and created, i loved the atmosphere of Jackson in the movie, and i loved Stewart. he was a hunk. i loooved Aibileen and Minny. they were great. some of my dislikes are: how quickly Stewart and Skeeter's relationship moved along. one scene they were on their first date, the next they were kissing like they were married. also, i hated how they broke up. he was supposed to propose. i also didn't like Constantine in the movie. i didn't imagine her like that. neither did my grandma, so it's official. i also wished that they told and showed more of Celia Foote and her stories and shananagans. she was my favorite character in this story. :)

i guess this was more of a The Help: Book vs. Movie type of thing, but oh well.

my free crappy portrait

i've been wanting to try this for a while so i decided to finally go ahead and do it. i sent in a couple pictures of myself and a little about me a couple weeks ago so the artistic people at Free Crappy Portraits could work their magic.

every heard of them? Free Crappy Portraits is a fun website where you can send in a picture, and a little something about yourself and then the artists draw a new portrait for you. its just really fun to see what they come up with and how it turns out.

here's what i said about myself:

I'm a spunky girl who loves vintage, polaroids and vintage cameras, STAR WARS (yes, i'm a nerd like that), which brings me to: nerd glasses, Christmas, theater, Old Hollywood, smiling, fashion, and being awesome and awkward all at the same time. My favorite food is chocolate (although, Mexican food is a close second) and i love taking pictures. I hope to one day become an artist, particularly in Graphic Design or Photography and I adore dogs.

i laughed when i got it back. haha! i love it though. it's so cute! one other thing: i noticed is the way they drew my hair was a way i never really wear my hair...until today. srsly. the day i get it back. ;) well, i see the art, photography, Star Wars nerdy ears, vintage dress, nerd glasses, and they even used my favorite color for the dress with out me telling them. man, they are good!

i found these insanely awesome alternative art posters on tumblr and kind of freaked out. in a good way when my eyes first laid sight upon these beauties. any fan of _____ would know what these are posters are. maybe one or two give it away, but if you're totally lost, i'll tell ya. because i guess i'm just that nice. ;) they are from Star Wars. these are planets that are from the movies and i could probably tell you what scenes happen on each of these planets.

can we talk about how inspiringly cool these posters are!? i really love how they each simply describe and depict each planet. it makes me want to do this sometime. with simple shapes and lines, they each show off the characteristics of each planet. love it.

i just realized i rambled on and on about the planets of Star Wars. guys, i need to do something to channel my inner nerd. because i so am one. my deep love of Star Wars and other (as little girls would say,) "boy movies" confirms that. (*cough, cough* Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones, comic book hero movies, etc...)

and i just had to share these because they are wayy sick.

Salt Lake City

as you can see, we saw the lights at temple square, went shopping (yes, we did a lot of shopping), ate at a couple of delicious restaurants, and went to a movie. good times. like i said, it was a quick trip, but i loved going up north again after a long while!

new year's resolutions

after thinking about these resolutions or goals for the new year, i've finally finalized and came to a conclusion about what i really want to accomplish or strive for this year. so yes, this may be a couple days late, but it's better late then never, right?

for a better 2012:
+write more letters
+say morning prayer
+write in my journal everyday
+finish my books i've started and read 20 books this year
+keep my 4.0 gpa
+get my license when the time comes
+get a job this summer!
+go running at least 2 times a week
+take at least one picture a day
+make waking up before 7:30am a habit.
+use one pack of instant film a month
+dress for myself and not other people
+develop a unique personal style in fashion and music
+finish my room
+be more outgoing and stop caring what people think
+be kinder to my family

i might add to this, but this is what i've come up with so far. i want to print this out and put it somewhere to remind myself everyday.

i feel like if i go through and at least attempt each of these things on my list, i can really be a better me and be a happier person. everyone needs room for improvement and a fresh start on January 1st is a great time for that. this will also be fun to look back in 6 months, then a year to see if i have accomplished any of these goals. :)

...i started a cupcake and fashion blog?
i'm a funny cupcake.

wow. this year i've realized that i've grown so much. i don't even remember how, but i somehow realized and remembered that i made this blog called hey cupcake. i must have been way bored with a lot of time on my hands. i guess this was at a time that i wasn't really into this blog and i discovered the world of fashion blogging. i wanted to start fresh and new. i guess i had big plans for that blog and i got off to a good start, but it only lasted a month. haha. isn't that how it always is?

anyways, i never realized that i was so funny and quirky with my posts on that blog! i was reading over some and i was thinking, 'man. i used to be a pretty good blogger.' and this post? i used to give good advice, too. can we also talk about how i've totally grown up? those pictures look like they were from a couple years ago but that was only last january! i miss my bangs, though. i might cut those again.

i've also grown as a blogger. in a way that maybe i've found the most meaningful things (to me) to blog about? i don't know. blogging about cupcakes seems a little unimportant. although it's fun, i'd rather spend my time blogging about memories i've made and stories and perhaps things that inspire me at the moment.

it was fun comparing and seeing what i was into a year ago and i'm actually glad i didn't delete that blog so i could! that's why i don't delete blogs. ;)

366 in 2012: day one

and so it begins.

i got this brilliant idea about 30 minutes ago. (television really distracts a person.) i'm going to make a new year's resolution to take at least one picture every day, through out the year. brilliant? well, it wasn't really my idea. i kind of decided to tag along with these lovely people and follow along. you can read more about it here.

you see, the brilliant idea was that i was going to do it myself. i think it would help me actually take pictures...and not snapshots. more... works of art, if you will. it will help me improve and work on photography even though i'm not in my photography class anymore. (so sad. i really loved that class.) so yes. i think i'm going to do this. and hopefully it won't die! i'm going to really push myself to do this.

and i'll definitely share them here! that's half the fun of taking pictures; sharing them. but, i'm still debating on whether i should post them everyday (which is a lot), every week, or every month. what do you think? i'm leaning towards every week but that's still kind of a lot. or maybe every other week? i don't know...

let's talk about rules:

+i can take the picture with any camera-instant, iPod, digital, etc.

+i have to take one picture every day! (obvi.) and tell a little about it.

+and.. i made a pin board where i can keep them all together. go ahead and follow it if you'd like!

anyways, i'll go ahead and share a picture i took today (actually, last night--technically it was taken on 1/1/12.) that i actually already shared in this post. here it is:

reining in the new year

remember how i didn't really know what to do for new years?
ya, i was panicking because i really wanted to part last night.

like a party animal.

luckily, my really good friend, Tenaya texted me and wanted to do something! and i'm so glad she did. we hadn't seen each other in over a month! and we don't even know why. we'd just been so busy, but anyways, i'm really glad we decided to do something together. and here's what we did:

we went to Walmart and got the goods for a rockin' New Years Eve and then headed back to my house. we just sat and talked until her parents came to get us because they were going to a movie so we thought we'd tag along. we thought for sure we would be back in time for midnight to run around the house and scream "happy new year!!!" like crazy animals for the world to hear, but... (you could probably tell there was going to be a 'but' at the end of that sentence) ..we weren't. our movie was over in time, but apparently her parent's wasn't. we were so bummed out. midnight was approaching fast and we weren't home.

(by the way, we saw Real Steel and it was SO good.)

it was sad, but we made some memories i guess. we watched the clock turn from 11:59 to 12:00 on our cell phones on our way home in the car, rubbed a Buddha's belly, and took that 1st picture above. (the Buddha i got for christmas..and we rubbed it for good luck. obvi.)

we got back to Tenaya's house and broke open the Sparkling Cider (as we like to call it, Bubbly) and then took that next picture. and drank until our tummies were upset. we watched tv even though we were planning on watching a horror movie and then i went home to sleep. i was dog tired. i barely got a wink of sleep the night before so ya... me tired=me cranky. i needed my sleep.

and that's how i reined in the new year.

when i finally got my camera in the mail, i was SO excited. i couldn't wait to break it out at any given time and snap a few photos!
i also couldn't wait to take pictures from our trip to Salt Lake City, either!

here's a look at my first pack of Instax photos:

wow. i'm so new at this and it was fun experimenting and taking pictures with my new camera.
it sure is different from a digital camera, that's for sure! (obvi.)
as you can see, a couple pictures didn't really turn out as expected, but it was still fun. one picture i didn't share turned out completely black which i was pretty disappointed about. oh well.

here's what i've decided with this camera and film.
i don't want to be taking pictures whenever and of random things, so i thought that i should limit myself to 1 pack a month (that's ten pictures) and save those pictures for something fun i do that month.
that way i'll make the film last! and i'll of course share them here on this blog of mine. ;)

also, i'm kind of really proud of myself.

i bet you're wondering why. are you ready for this?
i totally figured out how to set up and use our scanner all. by. myself. that's kind of a big deal for me. even my dad was surprised. and so was i.
anywho.

the awesome. Grooveshark is extremely cool, right? i mean, you choose the exact song you want to listen to, you can make playlists and share them on your blog or website or other social networks, you can share single songs and show what you're listening to in that moment, and other cool things. you can also follow people and see what they're listening to, which brings me to the creepy.

the creeper. um, ya. you go on my profile and it shows every. single. song i've listened to, and how many times. i think it shows what i time i listened to those songs, too. i just find that a little strange, but that's the only thing that bugs me.

ah man. you don't know how ready i am for Christmas Break. i've been waiting for this since the first day we went back from Thanksgiving Break. needless to say, it's been a long couple of weeks. i've got finals the next couple of days and i don't know if i'm going to maintain my 4.0 gpa i've had since well, forever! oh ya, guess what? i'm not off of break yet. everyone else i know around the freaking world is, but here where i live, we still have to go for half the week. ya. i was pretty ticked at that. i hope everyone else is enjoying their Christmas Break!

this is kind of random, but i don't care. i'm going to talk about it anyways.

i really need to clear my mind. i need one of those days where i don't do anything but think. think about things and clear my mind. i thought after the play, my life would be less complicated and more simple-- something i've been needing. but it really hasn't. the drama is still there... school is still hard... life is still complicated! i've kind of been feeling a little rebellious lately, too. i don't know what's wrong with me! i freak out at the smallest things and i don't know where my priorities are.

sigh. i don't know. hopefully Christmas will change that.
i just need to do things like remember the true meaning and spirit of Christmas and stuff. and be nicer to people.

one day, i came home for lunch and i was in a big rush to get back to school. i was with my friend and we were sitting at the messy, cluttered table doing last minute homework. as we were running out the door, my friend pointed that book out to me, asking me who's it was. i didn't really know, so i took it because it looked interesting.
the next period in math i was hooked on that book. i didn't even know what it was about, but it was really good. i could relate to it like no other, and those are my favorite kinds of books.

anyways, have you heard of or read The Book of Awesome?
like i said before, i really like it! it's really interesting and fun to read! it's one of those books that i carry around everywhere and pull out to read when i have a spare second.

it's pretty interesting how this book came to be.

i found this old school Dooney and Bourke purse in my mom's closet. i thought it was the cutest. i actually remember her using it when i was little! (that's how old it is.) anyways, i think it'd be fun to use as one of my bags that i tote around town when i go shopping and such!

here's a little sneak peak of the contents:

1. my wallet. i just recently downsized. i used to have a huge one! i love this one from J.Crew, but there's no room for change, sadly.
2. ya, i'm that kind of nerdy person. i carry around a USB drive just in case...
3. vanilla body spray. love that smell! my fav red lip gloss and nail polish for on the go!
4. bobby pins for when the hair get's crayzay!
5. my iPod. can't go anywhere with out it.
6. pens. these are useful to have on hand.
7. this is a really cool book of inspiration that i recently started reading. i'm doing a post about it soon! :)
8. the house key.
9. lip gloss and motion sickness pills. ha. never really use the pills, but just in case?
10. my cellular. ...wish i had an iPhone. that would solve the iPod issue too.
11. uhhm.. rubber bands for my braces. i'm "supposed" to wear them all the time or something.

i found this shirt in my mom's closet. i asked where she got it and she said it used to be grandma's. ya. i was quite shocked at that one. i really like this shirt! i feel fancy in it, but i wore it to school and it's great.

some thoughts from today:
i really don't like Christmas shopping.
i really want a way ugly Christmas sweater with reindeer on it.

The Dollar Store has cute headbands. but that's about the only cute things they have.
i like red.

also, what do you think of the new header? i had to give it a couple days to form an opinion, but i think i'm liking it. i'm kind of into geometric patterns lately.

this is what i wore to school today. minus the bad. but isn't that bag pretty rad? i was pretty excited when i found it in my mom's closet while i may or may not have been searching for Christmas presents.
(doesn't matter anyways. i already picked out all of my presents.) ;)

and ya. i didn't feel like going outside to take these, so i found a nice window and took them in our family room. it's weird with the tv behind me and stuff, but at least you get a full body view...

i like to call this shirt my 70's couch shirt. the colors and pattern remind me of that kind of pattern. does it not? i like it though... actually, i thought other people would think it was ugly (don't care if they do) but i actually got a couple compliments about it. i was happy about that.

want to see what's inside my bag that i carry around with me all the time? things i need to feel secure outside my own house? thought so.

christmas traditions

i was thinking a little about my family's Christmas traditions that we do each year and how awesome and special they are to me.

we do fun things i guess. its funny because i don't really think of them off the top of my head as "traditions" because of what they are... traditions. we do them every year so they just seem normal and not special. but they are special because we do them each and every year. :)

some of these traditions include:

*having a Christmas birthday for my grandpa (his b-day is the 23rd)

*always getting together with the family on my mom's side.

*having a special Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve.

*attempting to act out the Nativity.. this doesn't always end well.

*watching A Christmas Story on Christmas Eve right before we go to bed. (this one is a favorite.)

*while we open our gifts and after we sort them, we go from youngest to oldest and each open a gift.

*having a Christmas breakfast of waffles, strawberries and cream. i never have this any other day of the year except for Christmas morning.

*going out to a movie on Christmas Day.

*eating at a Mexican restaurant for Christmas dinner.. this is a new one and it's funny how we started it. let's just say... Mexican restaurants are always open on Christmas. even if no where else is.

i'm sure there's more. some are pretty generic, but they're still traditions!

i don't mean to be a downer, but i'm not happy today.

where shall i start?

i woke up this morning, my body aching, feeling the effects of staying up late last night. it was one of those mornings where i could NOT get out of bed. you know what i mean?

i tried to get ready for school as fast as i could because, well, i slept in a little too long. i threw my hair in a quick bun, put on a cozy sweater, didn't bother with makeup and was out the door.

then i realized that i had my State Test for my Photography class on wednesday. i swear it was supposed to be in a couple weeks. not days. it was just one of those things that stressed me out.

on to second period... realized i had another big test next class on wednesday. so, i've got two big tests on things that i hardly know. stressful.

somewhere in the process i got word that a kid that goes to the middle school next door committed suicide last night. that was hard. hard for everyone at the middle and high school. i thought i didn't know him... turns out i do. i'm trying not to think about it too much though, but it didn't really help my day get better.

it also didn't help that it was zero degrees and raining the whole day. burr. oh, and monday.

other sad things happened too... stuff i'd rather not mention on here. haha. stuff to do with friends and such.

it was not a super fun day.

shake it like a polaroid picture

here are some Polaroids i've been swooning over lately. i love Polaroid cameras and film there's something so cool about holding a picture in your hand that you just took. and the look the picture has is so eerie yet wonderful. it's odd, since we live in a digital world, but i like it.

today in photography, we learned about the history of cameras and photography. everything i learned was very, very interesting. really, i loved it! my teacher brought in so many of his old cameras (ones from the 1800's to today!) and did you know that Polaroids completely changed the photography industry?

by the way, did you also know that you're not actually supposed to shake a polaroid picture? it's really not good if you do! (this is such a nerdy thing that i'm going to tell you, but it's quite fascinating...) the chemicals on the film use oxygen to expose, so when you're shaking the picture, all it's doing is making the chemicals go off to the side of the picture. then the middle of the picture doesn't turn out as well! cool, huh?

i've been considering buying some film and a new polaroid camera for myself for christmas.

do you have any recommendations?

also, do you like Polaroid or Fuji Film better when it comes to this stuff?

want to know something i've been loving about winter lately?

the cold. i really love the cold.

actually, i hate it. yup, i hate the cold.

yet, i love it.

okay. let's straighten things out because now i'm even confused.

i really love being warm... let's face it. i'm from Southern Nevada and Southern Utah. i'll always have a hatred for being cold and a need for warmth. its in my DNA. (ya, i'm pretty sure at my last doctor's appt. they told me that.) but i really do love the cold because i love being warm in the cold.

it's hard to explain... i'm a bipolar person, so whatever.

i'm really loving winter right now because it's getting SO COLD outside they past few days (finally, i mean it's December for goodness sake.) and i've been really enjoying wearing scarves and gloves and big coats. ah yes. big coats. big TRENCH coats. my favorite. :)

remember that one time it was the night of thanksgiving and i was at my cousins' house? remember that? how we were bored then didn't want to go to bed so we almost sneaked out? and then remember how we kind of told a white lie about where we were going because we didn't want to tell what we were really doing? (doorbell ditching. muahaha.) then remember how we ended up doing what we lied that we were doing? so we didn't even lie? remember how we walked to grandma's house because we felt like it and we didn't knock on the door because it was dark and scary and everyone was asleep? then we were talking outside and we got scared because we thought we saw someone from a horror movie inside the house? and then remember how we were standing by the garage and Uncle Darin scared the poop out of us because we were talking about scary things at the moment? THEN remember how we said we were bored so he offered to take us to get Slurpies at 7-11? and then we did the Chinese fire-drill at every stop light? remember how we saw some people camping out because the next day was Black Friday and we didn't care because we wanted Slurpies at 1 am? do you remember how we talked about the most hilarious things on the way there, then when we got there we asked if they would be having any Black Friday specials and they laughed really hard at us? then they proceeded to tell us about some? remember how that was a really fun night and how i missed my uncle and cousins and i'm glad i got to share the hilarious night with them?

well i most certainly do.

my christmas wish list

Christmas is coming up as you all know, and i am so excited. :) you probably know that, too. i mean, who isn't excited for Christmas? probably the NCHA. otherwise known as the National Christmas Haters of America. i feel bad for them. they much have lived such a life of hate and misery to not like Christmas. sigh.

of course, Christmas time is the season of giving, but you have to admit: getting presents and new things is so thrilling. i don't get overly spoiled and get too many things over the rest of the year (except my birthday) so Christmas is a good time to stock up on the things i love and enjoy and have been eyeing for a while. below are some things from around the Internet that i just simply must have. i know for a fact i'm am by no means getting all of these things so i am seriously considering buying some of them myself. :)

[1] i would really love some new Toms for Christmas. i got a pair last year and they are so thrashed. i need a new pair.

remember when Toms weren't even popular yet and i felt so cool for having a pair and people thought they were the weirdest shoes ever? and how now they're like the coolest shoes around? i remember those times.

[2] i've been eyeing these headphones for quite some time. i really want the middle front one in the picture. that pattern to die for and it matches my iPod. i've always wanted headphones instead of earbuds, too. there's something really awesome about them. i can just see myself walking down the street with swagger while listening to my tunes.

[3] uh ya. i got a couple Polaroid cameras like last year online and i still haven't gotten film for them yet. they've just been sitting on my shelf. collecting dust. it's ridiculous. so if i get anything, i really REALLY want at least one pack of film for them.

[4] do any of you read Kara's amazing blog? have you checked out her shop? i am just dying for one of those OH MY pullovers. totally adorable. i need.

[5] Mustache Nail Stickers! my friend sent me a link on Facebook to these and i've been dying for them ever since. :) he really knows me and what i like. haha. but aren't they ADORABLE?

[6] okay i have been obsessed with Star Wars prints. i don't know why, but there's just something about them that i LOVE! i don't even care which ones, but i want a set of three of these so bad. :) although, the first ones would match my room better.

[7] ya, i want an iPhone for Christmas. like bad. i also want an SLR camera, but i feel bad because that's kind of a little much.( maybe my birthday?) i actually want a white iPhone 4 (or 4s) ;) to be exact. i was so psyched when the iPhone came to our carrier! well, the thing is, i'm pretty obsessed with iPhone cases. (i'm obsessed with a lot of things, aren't i?) i really LOVE this one i found here.

[8] yup, i'm stilling loving this chair from Ikea. love it. love it. love it. :)

[9] and i will always love these red boat shoes from Target. Boat shoes are the cutest things. the cutest i'm telling you. haven't tried these on in real life, but i wear them in my dreams. ;)

[10] i kind of want a new wardrobe from Forever 21... and sooo much music for my iPod. therefore, i ask for gift cards.

i'm kind of a nerd like that and i grew up with Star Wars and a love for it. i think it's funny because i have friends that just don't understand my love for Star Wars. i don't know. maybe you do, too. haha ;)
Return of the Jedi has such a great ending and conclusion to the series.
i cried when Anikan turned to the dark side and became Darth Vador and seeing him turn somewhat back to good makes me happy. and that Luke and Lea find out that they're brother and sister and all that jazz.

it had been a while since i'd sat down and watched the last 3 movies (technically first 3... just the older ones. ha) so yesterday, A New Hope was on tv so i (obviously) watched it, then popped in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi after. i'm actually surprised by this, but i think that they are my favorites among all of them. actually, scratch that. i love #'s 1-3 in a different way. these are just the classic Star Wars movies.

my next movie marathon has to be either Indiana Jones or Lord of the Rings next week.
i love me a good old classic Sy-Fi movie.

it's 2:30 in the afternoon and i'm still laying here in bed.

i woke up at 11 and did get breakfast already so it's not as bad as it looks.

i've been so tired lately. headaches, zoning out, falling asleep in class, and no motivation to do anything have all been symptoms of my lack of sleep. the reason for no sleep has been, well, the play. it's not because i've been performing late at night, it's because being in this production has taken up all my time and has forced me to do my homework late at night and we also got food at Denny's at midnight on monday.

i'm so over it, though.

i'm done with the play and i slept in pretty darn late today AND i get to go to my grandparents and do whatever the heck i want. i also get to see my cousins and other relatives as well as my Uncle who has been living in Hawaii for the past couple of years. i miss him and can't wait to see him! i also get to see my great aunt and uncle that live near Chicago who drove all the way out to see us. :) it's been almost a decade since i've seen them!

i love my family and can't wait for this Thanksgiving break to bring laughter, hugs, memories and fooood.

it's so weird that i'm done with the play.
closing night was on Monday and it was so sad yet relieving to know that it was our last time performing!
we all had so much fun and i am so glad i got to be apart of such a great show.
i became close to so many new people and made so many more friends.
thank you to everyone who made me happy and feel loved during the period of this show. xo

wanna know something cool?
on Monday (closing night) we all noticed that we had quite a large crowd that night... then we got word that we had a sold out show! that was a big deal since our high school has only been open for 4 years now and that was the first time we had ever sold out one of our shows. :) we all dance like idiots in the dressing room.

but come on. March 23? that's like in 6 months. how will i ever wait? sigh.

did i ever mention that The Hunger Games is the book that did for me? that got me to love reading again? i used to hate reading. but really, we all go through that stage at one point in our lives. but then, i began to read The Hunger Games for some reason. (i think it was because everyone else was... ha.) anyways. i really especially totally love The Hunger Games and movies in general, so needless to say, i'm totally psyched. oh, and i love Psych.

it's crazy, isn't it? how soon december is coming? i mean, our neighbors already have their Christmas lights up. it's killing me. it may only be the middle of November, but man, i definitely feel the rush of the holiday season already beginning to start.

fall is surprisingly one of my favorite seasons. it's weird though, because when someone asks me what my favorite season is, fall is actually the last season to come to mind. i think, "oh summer for sure, but i love Christmas and snow, so maybe winter. wait, my birthday is in spring so probably that season." but when i think long and hard about it, i really love fall. the beginning of the school year, the gradually chilling air, the new fall clothes, Halloween and Thanksgiving, family, it's all in fall.

i want to remember fall, so here are a couple favorites from the season. :)

+watching new episodes of my favorite shows.
+sipping hot chocolate on the balcony snuggled up in my favorite blanket (pictured above.)
+playing my guitar late at night in the light of my reading light.
+being in the school production, Thoroughly Modern Millie.
+eating soup and other warm, yummy things for dinner.
+wearing warmer clothes such as trench coats and boots and such.
+living in my one pair of sweats. if i could wear those babies all the time, i would.
+photographing the beautiful fall sunsets and well, learning more about photography!
+reading more books now that i'm in school.

+my family. i don't say this enough, but i really am. i miss them!

my life has been consumed by the high school production this past month, but whatever. i'm the one that got myself into all this. it's almost over and i'm really sad, but i can't wait to perform for the next couple of nights! with me luck!

indecisive

if you know me at all, you know that i am a very indecisive person.
(i can just see my friends nodding in agreement.)
i can never seem to make up my mind. when it comes to buying things, what i should write an essay on, how i rearrange my room, how i organize things, what color i should paint my nails, what songs to buy on iTunes or what shoes to wear it takes me way longer than the average person to make up my gosh darn mind. sometimes my indecisitivity (heck yes, i just made up a new word) has caused me to not choose at all. i've gotten better over the years, though.

anyways, i have another dilemma. i really, really want to dye my hair and get straight across bangs.
wowza. now that's a major makeover. even just one of those things would be a big deal for me. in fact, i'm having second thoughts as i type this. but i think i'm gonna go for it.

here's kind of the look i'm going for. i'm thinking i don't want to go any lighter, but just put like a redish hue in my hair. and as far as bangs go, possibly just bangs that could pass for both swoop and straight bangs. you know what i mean? it's kinda hard to explain the picture i see in my mind. haha!

[1] i feel silly, but i don't even know who this is. but isn't she absolutely gorgeous!? if i'd go for any of these looks, i'd definitely pick this one. the bangs are perfect, the length is great, and even though the color is a little lighter than i'd like, it's overall, amazing.

[2] first off, ya, i probably chose this picture among others because of the sick nasty camera, but you have to admit, her hair is so pretty, too. actually, they compliment each other... along with the hat. i really like her hair because if i didn't do straight across bangs, i'd love to get longer bangs like this.

[3] okay, yes. i just had to include a picture of Elsie in here. her hair is sooo beautiful and compliments so many of her adorable outfits! i love how her hair is a darker red. if i went for this color, i'd just like it to be more brown then well, purple. i don't think i could pull that off as well as she does. :)

i wonder if i'll actually go through with this... if i do it'll probably more towards the beginning of December.

i sit here, in my bed and stare into the vast distance of empty space. also known as "nothing."

but "nothing" is such an overused and boring word. a word that is used on SO many occasions.

for example, every day when i walk into my Chemistry class for 2nd period, my teacher says either, what's up!? or what's going on?! (apparently he likes to mix things up from time to time.)

and i simply reply with "nothing." (or if i'm feeling pretty fly that day, i'll say, "nothing much.")

anyways, i sit here and do just that. nothing.

why can't i make myself do the things i need to do? do the things that i NEED to get done for tomorrow? things that will determine my grades for my Midterm report? why can't i hang up my clothes? or wash all of the clothes in a ginormous pile in the corner of my closet? ...i'm running out of things to wear. why can't i seem to finish this blog post? why do i keep getting distracted?

perhaps it's because i'm lazy.

hey all! hope your well.

let me just say, i have been so busy as of late. busy as in, i've been at the school rehearsing for my play longer in the day than i've been home. and that includes sleeping... also i misplaced my ipod for about a week. and that's something i never do... but were not going to get into that.

my plan was, actually, to try to take at least one instagram picture a day and share pictures about and from the week on a certain day of that week every week. :)

then i lost my pod.

boo hoo. it was so tragic and so sad, but i actually had a feeling that i would find it? and well guess what? i did... i had a celebration in my heart. such a fun time.

i've been such a downer lately, and i don't know what to do about it. i try to be optimistic and happy but it's kind of hard... and i'm not depressed if that's what you're thinking. and yes, certain things have happened/are happening that have made me not my usual self. it's whatevs though.

i need to forget all that stuff and just focus.
focus on what's really important and things that i can control.

want to know something that helps me get my mind off things?

i was looking through old stuff on my phone and came across a memo i typed up a while ago. it was a list of songs that i heard that i really liked and didn't want to forget. i made a playlist on this magical website i found from a friend. (i also noticed a couple other bloggers adding playlists to posts-how clever!) ;) i added a couple songs i already know and love just because. :)

as i learn more and more about photography, i want to take more and more pictures. i've probably taken close to 500 pictures today. ha! is that crazy or what? it's mainly because i had to get 13 good shots for my class tomorrow, but still!

the assignment we had this weekend was to take 13 shots demonstrating the 13 elements of composition. what are the 13 elements you may ask? well there's Emphasis, Rule of Thirds, Framing, Leading Lines, Creative Lighting, High Contrast, Merger, Bird's Eye View, Worm's Eye View, Formal Balance, Informal Balance, Visual Texture and Emotion. :)

a few rambles, a few photographs

i've spent many days after school and rehearsal just sitting outside on my front porch. it's been so nice and peaceful to just enjoy the increasingly chilly evenings and kid friendly neighbor hood. my slippers do add in nicely to the equation. they keep my feet-sies warm, and with a mug of hot chocolate in my hand and my best friend by my side, the moment can't get any better. :)

it's the little things that count, i've come to find, and the moments you don't think much about that you enjoy the most.

i bet you didn't see this picture my eye coming...(get it? see?) i'm so funny. jk
i said that i would be sharing some projects from my photography class on my blog, but that hasn't happened to much, now has it?

this isn't the best picture because it's a picture of a print of my eyeball on glossy photo paper but it'll give you an idea.

what we did for the assignment was take a picture of our eye, and then a picture of an object-any object. this assignment was basically to use photoshop to put the object (that's more or less "the apple of our eye") into our eye. this is how mine turned out.

and here's my artist's statement: :)

whenever i wear these earrings, i get that compliment that they bring out my eyes, so i thought, why not have my eye bring out my earrings?

photography is fun. and it's by far my favorite class--assignments wise.

i've spent countless hours working on my poor room. i want to make my room a sanctuary where i can come home at the end of the day and relax. i want my room to be visually pleasing to my eye. i want to think about how i love how it looks every time i walk in my room.

i've been rearranging things, stealing things from around the house, but it's definitely not there yet.

i need an endless amounted gift card to Ikea. and Target. and Pottery Barn.

well, here's a peak into my life as of lately and what i do after school and in my spare time.
i wouldn't be surprised if you told me this was the most random post you'd ever read.
i just felt like jotting a few things down. :)

it's not that i am depressed, it's just that the recent events that have transpired in my life do not make me happy. although, they may be silly little things that aren't that big of a deal to worry about, they still do.

they are things that have to do with friendships and school and such.

let me give an example:

when you put up with someone for so long and deal with so much, trying so hard to be their friend and to make their friendship work, and they don't give the same shoulder to cry on and sympathy back, you don't end up a happy person.

well, i did it. once again, i redesigned my blog...

i know i do that way too much and every time i do, i say the things that i'm about to tell you, but this time i think i really mean it.

i've just been really not feeling the past look. i feel like it doesn't express and show off the idea and style of my blog. i'm not saying that this design does 100%, but it's getting there. and this one is here to stay for a while. promise.

i wanted simplicity, clean lines, geometric shapes and patterns, yet the somewhat same look. i'm pretty sure i accomplished that in this blog design. :)

i had such a great time last night at our neighborhood Halloween party!
the pictures pretty much tell it all.
it wasn't fun, but i'm glad i got to go eat some scrumptious chili, be silly with friends, and dress up as Mario.

i promised a picture of my costume, here it is. well, a couple times. ha! i had fun with my camera. ;)

i concluded the night by watching The Messengers. anyone seen that before? it was pretty spooky, but at the same time, not. i feel like after you watch the end of scary movies, they're not as scary. like, when you find out what really happened, it's just not as spooky! anyways, i'm still having nightmares tonight. nbd.

it seems like halloween came so fast this year... and October is almost over! where did the month go?! so sad. we didn't even put decorations up this year! my family and parents have been so busy this year that we didn't really have time to do that. it's alright because i'm still feeling the spirit of the season.

this is totally cliche, but i totes play the guitar when i'm sad. ha...
and my top know bun? i didn't feel like doing my hair... or makeup today.

some experiences from the day:

good.
getting extra credit in photography for wearing sweats to school. score.
watching like half my high school playing Just Dance on the Wii at lunch today.
running a mile and feeling so fly while doing it. (i had this amazing burst of energy!!)
totally winning a prize because of my friend. (it was totally rigged, but whatever. i won.)
p.s. can you tell it's "red ribbon week" at my school?

bad.
skipping breakfast and lunch-not on purpose. i'm not anorexic. promise.
my spanish teacher making a schedule for her class. that means we can't ask her about some of her stories to waste the entire class period anymore. :(
totally screwing up in rehearsal today on like every step AND having the director point out all my mistakes.
being in an all around bad mood today. and it's not even my "time of the month." ya.
drama, drama, drama. i want it to stop and i don't even contribute to it! i love my friends, but let's get real here.
having lots of homework (and between me and you, i haven't started it yet.oops!)
awkward moments. 'nuff said.

i'm trying to look for the good everyday, but man. it's hard with so much bad.

legit fugitive

it seems like whenever i blog about how i spent my day, i always talk about how i spent my saturday. saturdays are just fun for me. i do what ever i want, i go wherever i want, i hang out with whoever i want, it's just great.

well, this particular saturday was pretty awesome. it reminded me of summer in a way...

in the morning, i walked down to my high school to help our cast paint the set for our play. i'm pretty excited. like wayy excited. i worked on painting the New York skyline most of the time.. and it was fun. :)

after that, me and my friend who was also in the play went to DQ for some FOOD. we were starved. we had some good chats while chowing down on our greasy fast food. by the way, never order a corndog combo from Dairy Queen. the corndog was like as big as my finger. i was so mad.

well, i came home, did some productive things, then i begged my mom to take me somewhere-anywhere. i just needed to get out. we went to DI and i got a wayy cute belt and some bright red suspenders for my Mario costume. i didn't really want to go home yet, so i had her drive me to Sweet Tooth Fairy for a cupcake. it's funny how i ended up with four... ;) ha! (i had a coupon for buy 2, get 2.)
did you know it's like really hard to take pictures in cars? you probably did. it's so bumpy so my cupcake picture is blurry! lame.

then i went to my friend's house who i had lunch with and we had some dinner. maybe we just like having our meals together? i don't know. but we ended up going to another friend's house to eat the cupcakes and watch Friend's in her theater room. good times, good times. :)

i ended the night with going to my friend's party. (different friend-he turned 16.) i almost died last night...
we were playing fugitive and it srsly turned into what we later called "legit fugitive."

where i live, most people understand that us kids like to play night games and stuff. they understand that sometimes it is necessary to hide in their bushes to save our lives while playing a good old game of fugitive. well, there's always that one family that just doesn't and will call the cops on you because they can. they literally wait for things like that to happen so they can rat you out.

me and my friend, Hunter came across that family last night.

we were told to avoid that family's house-and believe me, we did. we were on our way to the top of the street when we came out of hiding and walked on the street passed this house so they wouldn't be mad that we were on their property or whatever. we hid at the next house in a bush. while we were hiding, the people next door came out of their house! we were freaking out like no other, but we stayed still as they passed us to go get mad at our other friends (haha suckers.) they came back and i swear, this next part happened in slow motion. right as they were about to turn the corner to go back into their house, the dad looked back one last time... and saw. me. i almost cried. he stared at me forever and he would not look away. meanwhile, i'm sitting there, frozen up, not breathing while Hunter (who's more in the bush and wasn't seen) keeps asking what he's doing. then the mom started walking over to us. i have to admit... it was funny. but she was saying, "you kids have 10 seconds to come out here before i tell your parents."
okay, ya. we didn't come out. and she threatened us by saying that she was gonna tell our parents? hahahahha! i laughed at that.
then the guy started coming over to us... we freaked. after a couple slit seconds of debating what to do, we made a break for it and ran. and i swear, they started chasing us. of course i didn't look over my shoulder, i ran so fast and so hard! we ended up getting away and we were just laughing the whole way back to the house.

pretty fun and scary experience...
legit fugitive is my new favorite.

halloween costume.

well friends, i've finally decided what i'm going to be for halloween. :)

not that i've had a hard time thinking of what to be... i just have been so busy that i haven't had a chance to decide!

but i finally have.

on wednesday, i was at my brother's halloween band concert and it turned out that one of my best friends was there. cool. so i sat by her and we obnoxiously make comments and talked the whole time. the performers dressed up in halloween costumes for the concert, so that sparked the question that both of our moms asked us: "what are you going to be for halloween?" now, being older, mom isn't really there helping you with your costume and helping you decided a month in advance with picking out what your going to be. it was just funny that both our moms asked then and put it off until then.

anyways, we were talking about that and when one of the grades went up on stage she pointed out someone's Yoshi costume. it was then that a lightbulb turned on above both of our heads and we gave each other that look of "are you thinking the same incredibly awesome idea that i am?"

so yes. i will be Mario and Tenaya will be Luigi for halloween.
you don't even know how excited i am.

i even went thrifting today and got some awesome red suspenders. all i need now is; a mustache, a red shirt, a red hat, and supplies to transform that hat. i'm. so. stoked.
i really wasn't excited about halloween this year until now. so ready to dress up as mario!

only downside is that Naya's a year younger than me and we don't go to the same school this year, so when we wear our costumes to school, i'll be missing my other half.
oh well, it's worth it. ;)

i have been SO into nails and painting nails lately. it's so great. i've tried like wayy cool and hard designs on my nails lately and i've gotten so many sweet compliments from doing that.

yesterday wasn't actually that bad--yes, it was another lazy day (three in a row, baby) but it was srsly what i needed.

i woke up and made my mom some eggs because she's been sick... i was kinda mad that i was woken up to do that because i really wanted to sleep in. but, whatever. i did some cleaning, got ready for the day, and well, then i went for another drive with my mom and i got to practice some more. :) i am soooo happy i got my permit. i love driving!! and i definitely canNOT wait until i turn 16 and when i can drive on my own.. i'm getting tired of my mom and dad pressuring me from the passenger's seat-and it's only the third day.

sigh. i'll get used to it hopefully.

the best part of yesterday has to be when i got together with some friends from the neighborhood and played a little bit of tennis.

i took a couple shots while i was waiting for them.

we had a good ol' game of tennis and volleyball, then we came back to my house and watched Thor. pretty good movie... but the best part was just hanging with my friends.
after the guys left... (more like, after we kicked them out,) me and my girlfriend, Jancyn, watched Something Borrowed.
(ya, for me, that was two nights in a row.) she wanted to watch it. ;)
i wasn't mad.

i'd like to say that i'm officially licensed, but no. i'm only officially "permitted." but i'm cool with that. :)

today my mom took me to go get my learner's permit at the DMV. i am sooo glad that i did because i've put this off since May. in Utah, you can get it the day you turn 15! that was the plan... until i got lazy all summer and then school happened and i had no time at all to go get it. so, this fall break i finally got it!
i'm actually surprised at how well i did on the test! i passed and that's all i care about... i didn't really know half the stuff, but it's all common sense questions, so it was all good. either that or i'm a good guesser...

now i sit. alone. since most of my friends are out of town, i don't know what to do tonight! i REALLY want to watch Something Borrowed tonight (2nd favorite movie ever.) ;) or i was invited to go chill with some of my guy friends which i might end up doing since i don't feel like being a lonely loser tonight.

i'm really glad we didn't go out of town this break. i needed a break and i feel like when we go out of town, it's just more stress instead of "vacationing."

today is so awesome. i don't have school and i've been doing whatever the heck i want all day long!

i went to a friends house yesterday and watched 500 Days Of Summer for the first time. i was so excited that we were going to watch that movie! it was sooo good and it's hands down my favorite movie now. i love Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt both soo much!

i also really love that movie because it seems so relevant to life. it seems real, like those things really do happy in real life and i really like that. i gives me hope in a way, too. haha

also, the soundtrack is amazing and i want every. single. song. in that movie.

okay, then i woke up today and did nothing, but in a productive way. meaning, i mainly ate food, browsed the internet, and did pointless stuff. except, do crafts count as pointless? because i did that...

i printed out a couple of halloween posters and cut out a little bat for my empty frame. this wall needed some help, so i spiced it up with a little halloween spirit! :)
